It was undoubtedly the most important inclusive sporting event on a global level. The Special Olympics Winter World Games held for the first time in Italy in Turin from 1st to 15th March, represented a success in terms of participation and surprisingly media coverage well beyond expectations, with the enthusiasm and joy of the 1500 special athletes of the 102 delegations from all over the world.

In this important context, the “Varaldo Di Pietro” Foundation, thanks also to the consolidated partnership with Special Olympics, had the honor of exclusively promoting the “Chairman’s Dinner”, perhaps the most prestigious event on the sidelines of the Games held in the iconic “Del Cambio” restaurant in Turin.

“It is undoubtedly an extreme pride for our Institute and I believe also for Latina as its hometown, to have been able to leave a significant mark on the largest inclusive event in the world of the year – says President Giovanni Di Pietro – It was an extraordinary opportunity to have been able to reaffirm our mission of inclusion and solidarity through Sport in such a circumstance”.

Among the excellent guests invited to the special dinner were President Tim Shriver with his wife Linda together with numerous members of the Kennedy clan to which they belong, such as Bobby and Maria Shriver, then Angelo Moratti, President of Special Olympies Italia as well as several prominent figures in American journalism and politics. In such a high-level international audience, Giovanni Di Pietro left to his son Marco Varaldo, a Master’s graduate in the States, the burden of the presentation and the original story of the approach and falling in love of the special kids.
