With these words, Pope Francis taught us that the true goal is not personal victory, but the shared journey. The Di Pietro Foundation joins the mourning of the entire world to say goodbye to a man who knew how to speak to the hearts of people with humility, courage and depth.

Sport was often at the center of his metaphors: a testing ground and a school of life. For him, as for us, it was a tool to build a more just society, where fair play counts more than the result, where respect for others is the basis of every match, where every obstacle is an opportunity to get up and start again together.

Our mission continues in the wake of his teachings: to promote a culture of inclusion, empathy and perseverance, so that no one is left behind.

Thank you, Holy Father, for showing us that even in sport we can find the lived Gospel. May your example continue to guide us.
